So, we just had this shitty thread about guys not taking "No" for an answer from girls and how girls are supposed to act in such a situation. It all ended in a trollfest and thankfully got deleted.
But now I am sitting here wondering why people dance.
Can you recommend me some literature on that topic? From a psychological point of view or a historians? General literature about dancing?

dumb question. dancing is physical activity. physical activity feels good.

Have you ever found yourself tapping your feet to some music? It's that on a bigger scale.

I've never read anything worth reading about, but I've never looked.

Thanks but I don't want that discussion to come up again. Yes, it's fun. I enjoy it too. But I want to see what people have written about it.

This. But if you absolutely have to dissect it, it's fun because it's something you feel and do, but you don't really think about so much. It's improvisational, subtle, and fleeting. You can hit some great moves one moment and look like a total spaz the next. It's also a great way to communicate non-verbally. It makes a great metaphor for sex in that way.

I don't mind dancing if I've already swagged a girl, but I raise cautious alarm when it comes to using dancing as a form of flirting with strangers.

>> No.4859718

>>4859680
But here is the big question: why does it feel good? Someone must have written something about it.

>> No.4859726

People seem to be focusing on it as a physical thing: pleasure, can't help it (ie, it's involuntary) and I think they are right. But I guess it's interesting for the OP's question when you ask why do people dance the way they do and it illustrates an obvious sociological, cultural dimension to the practise of dancing in a public space.

>> No.4859737

I've never seen a man dance in a non-embarrassing way. It's one of those things you can't get away with.

>> No.4859738

>>4859726
People do it the way they do BECAUSE it's cultural and social. If you want to talk specifics then you can get a PhD focusing on just how a certain group of people dances in a particular region in a particular time period. But it's culture, that's what people do, make culture. I don't understand what's mysterious about it.

>> No.4859744

It's fun, we are physical bodies so we try to express ourselves like that, more precisely a combination of expression and showing off. This is taken further by tradition and art.

I was a bboy, now only trying to do powermoves or dancing however I like and in whatever way I want. That translates into mostly training, trying to achieve whatever you though up.

Example of a great bboy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7v4FnzS9L8

The events themselves are fun, unfortunately every dancer is quite dumb, this is what turned me off from most of the local dance community.

Dancing is the vertical manifestation of sex and proof of one's physical ability and creativity. You know how bitches passed out when Elvis moved his hips? Yeah, he was basically penetrating them from a distance.
I like dancing, even though i'm a total beta. I guess deep inside i still lust for sex even though i put next to no effort to get it.

>> No.4859765

It's about control, as I said in the other thread. It's the same thing that has you dreaming of superheroes who can do incredible things, it's the same thing that gives Harry Potter his appeal, it's the same thing that has people dreaming of space and the depths of the ocean, etc. ---except it's something we can all do, and so do. It's power, and especially as far as women are concerned.

It's solipsism, basically. We all start out solipsistic as fuck and exert ourselves more and more upon the world. oh, but he might - he might realize painting is futile and he will never compete with the classics and whatnot. That said, he can, and will - if he is a dedicated enough painter - get out of that mindset.
Sometimes it's better not to complicate things, but sometimes it's worth taking the risk as you might see a thing in different light and actually improve your practice of it.

Reading this thread is an exercise in cancer. The fact that people actually attempted to discuss this autistic horseshit is pathetic. It is obviously linked to sex and culture. There is a strong possibility music was created before language. I have sincere doubts that you understand very much about "what it is to be human" if this is how you spend you time on the book section of the anime image board.
