All the while I've remained and idled about my community. A suburb-type within the crust of lonesome MI. I am posting this odd question on this current thread because it seems 'right', concerning Literature-and-the-such.
Here goes...
Out of boredom and a genuine curiosity as to how one would react concerning said strangeness and all-too-mysterious-'novel'-packaged-and-left-behind-by-anon-on-your-doorstep, would this be considered as a criminal offense in any level? Leaving behind a rather morbidly, ambiguous crafting of a psychological stroke concerning a series of (neo-noir-ish) anthologies.

Crafting multiple copies in a rather untraceable fashion and then leaving most of 'em behind, packaged and sitting on folks's doorsteps merely to remain anonymous myself. Leaving a copy sitting on the doorstep of a publisher, listing myself as, once again, 'Anonymous'.

Merely for myself to sit back and overhear what occurs with said craft.

Note: One could label this as a form of, 'social research' and a general sense of doing something 'out of the ordinary'.

While I like the idea, I'm afraid not much would come out of it.
Most people would simply throw it into the trash. Some might give it a look, then throw it away.

Regarding the criminal offense part of your question: I guess it depends on where you live. Are you murriclap?

I currently live in the state of Michigan. I assumed that the only 'criminal offense' would regard a restraining order if someone were to discover the sender's address (me).

>> No.4638935

You should at least address the envelopes themselves -

appartment number, building number, street number & name, city.

That way, it looks less like random spam; I always open mail addressed to my address.

Well, I don't even see a restraining order coming your way, if I understand your plan correctly.

Or do you want to spam the same people multiple times, with gore-shockporn-shit?

That's what I was thinking of doing. My original thought was to begin with my neighbors, then reach out a few streets away, after, to folks that I'm associated with.

An experiment to discover whether one will take the time to read a mysterious (packaged) novel left in front of their doorstep, and as a form of improving my techniques.

Since I am 'using' folks nearby, and folks for whom I am associated with, perhaps I may be able to get them to mention it -- To mention their thoughts and possible concerns regarding this mysterious novel.

Not planning on spamming folks multiple times. I shall construct a map and cross out homes I've already delivered. I'll deliver a handful of copies in the dead of night (preferably around 3-4 AM), head back, and await a couple of days to see if any news of 'mysterious novels' strikes.

I like the idea but your cowardice and uncertainty make me dislike you.

I like it. Go for it, if some random anon's blessings are of any matter to you.

A 'cowardice' towards an idea that hasn't really been done before. I am conducting this experiment mainly to see what happens within the community, and to hound my own writing techniques whilst using anons as 'test subjects' for my experiment. I ain't looking to become some successful pioneer of any tropes or techniques, if I were, I wouldn't become the anonymous crafter of said novels.

I'm merely looking to do something that I've never done before...have a little fun whilst at it.

>> No.4639014

I thought when you said 'criminal offense' you meant that maybe they would call in a bomb threat because 'murica.

Also how do you intend on observing these peoples reaction? The only chance you would have is if people talk about how some shit got left on their doorstep, and even then you'd have to be within earshot. What good is research if you can't collect any data. I can totally see you getting frustrated by hearing nothing about it and obsessively inquiring (people notice that shit) and giving yourself away.

Lastly, if you live in a small neighborhood you should take a long think before you do this and make sure you aren't "that guy" in your community. Because if you are "that guy" then people will know this is you as soon as they find out only one community (yours) got this.

That is the problem, I ain't going full on intervening on their private affairs. Perhaps the rush of doing something...'different' will have kept me at bay. And whilst communities are concerned, I don't plan on striking many homes with this. It'll be a short-lived fuse...but exciting nonetheless.

Wait, they're *your* writings? Eh, nevermind. The idea sucks.

op, the way you write (in these posts at least) is so weird. do you try to make it idiosyncratic on purpose? every sentence is convoluted and overwrought

for example why did you start awkwardly dropping the word "ain't" into your posts

Move north, nigga. I live about an hour south of Alpena and it's scenic (I grew up here, so it's easy to disregard how nice it is, but I really like it). Economy is still shit, though.
