So I've just started reading Moby Dick. What should I expect /lit/? Worth my time? A dandy read? How do you feel about it?

>> No.459697

it's an epic story about one band trying to create the best drum solo ever

>> No.459696

we just had a thread about it, like two pages back

>> No.459906

Scars from where he be grappling with a giant squid, arrr.

>> No.459907

>>459693

a whaling epic of biblical proportions

i.e, long, boring and full of shit with a few cool quotable phrases.

>> No.459911

>>459906
was it a squid or just scars from all the other fights with whalers he's gotten into? can't remember.

anyway, i found all the cetology chapters besides the Brow and the Whiteness of the Whale to be uninteresting, but the actual narrative is quite good.

I read a book that Lonesome Dove was allegedly based on, about a cattle drive from Texas to Montana, and there was an awful lot in that book about cows.

it's a great piece of 'literature'! you'll enjoy at least 15% of it!

Which is 5% more than most things that qualify as literature.

>> No.459994

And his scars just happen to look like some kind of artistic flourish? lol

>> No.460001

>>459994

I don't think that is an illustration for Moby Dick.

Probably some cheap-ass stupid series fantasy bullshit.

>> No.460025

>>459994
it is kind of described as such in the book. not this anthropomorphic sculpture thing, but weird complex patterns scarified on their skins.
