hey /lit/ I'm writing a story but I'm having trouble with coming up with a religion would be nice for some ideas

> its a fantasy and has to do with alchemy and magic if that helps.

Is it vital to the plot? Is the religion a core part of the story? No? Then don't include it. Fantasy books already have way too much unnecessary crap in them.

Maybe their gods are gods based purely on emotion? And they believe that every time one of them feels that emotion, they're sending strength to that particular god. There could be a God of Anger, a God of Sadness, a God of Joy, etc.

not 100 percent sure at the moment but I do want it to have at least some presence.
/lit/ think it should be a steam punk like concept, I want to integrate some form of technology for the people.

use the rosicrucian order

or if you're too lazy to research it just make it up, or use facts in stupidly incorrect ways like dan brown

Do you have an actual story? Characters fleshed out and a plot lined up? You should probably do that first if you don't.

Damn son while thinking of ideas for you I got like ten ideas that I can use myself. Why can't you be this imaginative?

Write something good, something memorable. Not Generic Fantasy Novel #1983234B. Hammer out plot and characters first. Bad fantasy starts with worldbuilding and uses that to make up for stock characters and generic stories.

thanks man, ill try see how it turns out.

A believable religion wouldn't be about chanting to something retarded (which is what everyone does in some vain attempt of satire). Religious texts are usually full of stories with characters that have failings we can identify and relate to. The stories are usually about how they overcame these failings or how those failings became their down fall.

A religion that entirely rejects alchemy and magic.
