Is there really a kraken and a cruise liner in this book? If so, I will read it.

yessirree!

>> No.440333

one thing you should note.. the kraken wakes is quite a slowgoing read at first. i'd not suggest reading it if you're into action novels. once it gets going, however, it really pays off

his other books (like the chrysalids, one of my favs) are a much more... contemporary, and also very enjoyable to read.

what sort of stuff is it?

chrysalids is about a pseudo post apocalyptic earth in which the world is brimming with mutated humans/plants/animals.

it takes place in a cluster of farms that believe mutations are blasphemies of god's true 'image of man', and all mutant babies are killed; mutant crops burned.

the main character develops a sort of mutation in his mind (somewhat beneficial) and it becomes harder and harder to hide. i'll leave the rest up to you if you want to read it.

i haven't read his other books yet but i have 3-4 of them taken out of the library.
one, i believe, is about plants that have been genetically modified but they go crazy and blind humans and just go ape shit or something.
that's what i gathered from the synopsis on the back of the book :P

english sci-fi writer. he wrote the book "crash" upon which the not black people movie was based. but I mean to recommend "the crystal world", a good read and exceptionally disconcerting
