this is for people who wanted me to update them on my progress through my writing.

I am eighteen and thought it to be about time I penned something solid to paper.

I type it up and cringe at the likelihood of it all being a silly cliche. But I hope that somebody here has the time to offer tasteful and helpful critique so I can make it better.

The distanced 'objective' first-person style was mastered by Beckett. Joseph Heller also managed a pretty good version in Something Happened. Everyone else who tries this like Plath, Ryu Murakami and Alt-Lit people are doomed to failure.

why?
Most would say Beckett was an imitator of Joyce anyway, and he was a success nonetheless.

Maybe publishers will take note of me being eighteen?
I plan to finish this before i turn nineteen

Heller? Please

Anon, I enjoyed that small fragment very much. You have a style that, if it betrays certain influences, is nonetheless honest, varied and evocative.

That said, and as you allude to yourself, the gap between scattered observational autobiography to novel is huge. Good luck with it though.
