Is it necessary to be just a touch autistic in order to create a detailed fantasy world?

Doing so seems to require an obsessive attention to detail that aligns perfectly with classical descriptions of autism.

"Autism" is a buzzword, signifying the anon's desire to disregard something that he cannot otherwise justify disregarding, most likely so the anon will seem wiser and more intellectual than they are.

>> No.4319772

I think you'd have to be autistic to enjoy the world building aspect, but simply to create would merely require OCD or an ostentatious desire to draw neckbeard praise, knowing this as a very simple way

AUTISM IS ACTUALLY A NEUROLOGICAL CONDITION.

"AUTISM" IS A BUZZWORD ONLY TO THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW WHAT AUTISM IS.

That's what he implied.
The OP was misusing, abusing, the word and condition of autism, to make himself feel smarter and above an author of some renown. And probably just to make his fans angry. This argument can be, and has been, used to degrade everyone, from Nietzsche to DFW.

What is your derangement btw?

By your definition of autism modern society and technology wouldn't exist without the disease.

See, now if I were to point out this you're/your mistake, someone would charge right in and call ME autistic. (They have)
And what do you mean by "falling"?
"Showing little bits of humanity"? I've always stood for sincerity and humanity.

>> No.4320036

Not sure if anyone's pointed this out yet, but Tolkien was not autistic and it's laughable and remarkably stupid to say that he was, especially to say that he was "because he created a detailed fantasy world."

Maybe it has something to do with that misconception about fantasy authors brought by greasy DnD neckbeards writing their own fantasy worlds and being autistic about it, as opposed to Tolkien who, while created a highly intricate and detailed fictitious world, was aiming more at a sort of over-arching social and moral allegory rather than the whole muh-magick-systuhm that it's used nowadays.

I don't think it's necessary.

What you need is time and motivation. Before the Internet it was easier to find time, and since there wasn't so many distractions at hand, it was easier to be focused.

Nowadays you have a lot more easy information and technology at hand, but the catch is you need focus more than ever. Sometimes this focus comes naturally to you, when for some reason you lose interest in distractions and the productive activity become your favorite thing.
