I was just wondering...what do you imagine the Judge's dancing in Blood Meridian to look like?

>> No.4227570

I pictured the Mexican Hat dance. With the clapping and such.

>> No.4227620

>blood meridian
>favorite book
>The judge
>best semi fictional character/soap box ever
>dance scene in book
>only point in novel where narration changes to speaking in the present tense
>Giant naked hairless man
>in a smoke filled bar room
>surrounded in a circle by men and women
>sweaty from dancing and drinking despite the cold
>somewhere outside they are calling for a missing little girl
>and he is dancing there with all of them
>yet he is the only true dancer
>with his small and delicate feet
>and he is quite the favorite, the Judge is
>and he will never die

Some sort of Irish folk dance. Like the dancing in Titanic.

oh i misread, i skipped over the "'s dancing" part

oh well i already wasted 2 minutes of my life doing this

>> No.4227658

Some sort of jig, and even though he's really big he barely makes any noise as his feet hit the ground.

An Irish jig, or something similar.

That's a creepy picture of the guy. I always envisioned him as a big, kind-faced dude. So that manipulating everyone came more easily to him.

>>4227696
i always envisioned him as Apocalypse Now Marlon Brando

Close, but he still looks too gruff. If he was played as a completely relaxed, jovial and confident character (who just happened to be a child killing psychopath) then I could get over it.

Too fat. I picture the Judge to have a lot of "mass", but not flabby. Like that kind of muscly + big belly look. Like Tony Soprano or Tom Hardy in Bronson maybe

I pictured him as stamping his feet hard at times though, in the last few passages it gives that impression.

I'm kind of getting an image of him as a gruffer, more evil Locke from LOST.

The beginning is also in the present tense.

I can't believe that I'm not the only one who pictured that in my head when I first read it. Not the face or voice but the general build.

fucking spot on! I imagine The Judge had a much, much softer and childlike face but with a strong, commanding yet humble voice. But yeah, body and head shape as Gus.
