Is this very form of total sexual conquest over the mouth, which is of course the most 'personal' of the human orifices, the ultimate last frontier of bourgeois capitalism?
I am reminded of nothing so much as Ridley Scott's "Alien" and the two immediate sequels following; of course the typical stupid liberal opinion is that Alien3 is a failure as a conclusion because there is only one alien and the stakes are thus lower- no! The alien, an abstract violent sexual force is irrelevant, the true antagonist is the company itself, with the goal crushing any hope for community uprising by conquering the last area of proletariat freedom, the sexual realm- fulfilling their deepest fantasy of Droit du Seigneur and the Formalisation of their rule
So to answer your question, of course, have not we all?

Is "edge", "fedora" etcetera not a self-imposed bourgeois mentality even on the ostensibly free, communal boards of 4chan? The irony, of course, is that without exception the very people decrying these things were at one time guilty themselves; it is a form of capitalist destruction over cultural capital in order to keep the treadmill running, so to speak; there must be 'progress' even if it is totally imagined. The result is that in a self-contained sphere of rapid dialogue, the 'right' and 'wrong' opinions become quickly formalised and shift far ahead of the 'real world'- the standards are in effect useless because the cultural capital exists in one sphere but not the next, an age-old capitalist trick

Hikkikomori and the NEET users of 4chan are the defining Lumpenproletariat of the digital age; alienated not only from capital but the entire social and public sphere but able to be provided with their basic needs (food, shelter, electricity) which have become trivial to provide in developed countries
the standard tragic postmodern american lumpen figure is the black gang member who has no real economic escape and thus must turn to drugs, crime, etcetera- No! what we see in the unemployed middle class youth is much worse in that they have none of the ties of community, none of the social experience afforded to the gangster- who in a way has as full a life as any bourgeois. The NEET has all the surface characteristics of a fairly well-off, middle-class lifestyle but is envious of the classical figures of poverty, the gangster, the junkie etcetera- these are men who lack even the connections for a life of petty crime which would of course be much more satisfying

Is this thread an example of what Zizek meant when he was talking about how some beliefs function even if no one really believes them? We really don't know if OP was Zizek or not but for the purpose of the thread, we chose to believe he was and the same goes for the OP. He somewhat expertly imitated Zizek's style, trying to imitate his thought-process - even if he obviously does NOT believe that he is Zizek himself.

The result has been a pleasantly informative thread with lots of discussion and we all leave with a sense of enjoyment, knowing that probably everything said in it was a complete fabrication. Very interesting.

>Following Seinfeld's appearance on network television, urban centers across the country were stunningly "revitalized": property values soared, chain stores invested and the bourgeoisie scrambled to infest the broken metropoli they had previously shunned. Coincidence? No.
Unbeknownst to Seinfeld's faithful, they were exalting a show with a mission.

Zizek, do you think that the Beatles arrival represented a lifesaver for a white middle class terrorized by the idea that within rock and roll lay a true revolution of customs? And furthermore, the Beatles represented the reaction against a social and political revolution, replacing the image of angry kids with their fists in the air, with cordial faces and amiable declarations. Replacing accusatory words of militant musicians with overindulgent nursery rhymes?

Hegel’s last words, "And he didn’t understand me", were previously interpreted to refer to all of his students as a single person. However, his newly discovered notebooks indicate that during his final days Hegel developed his dialectic so far that he was able to predict the future movements of history in such detail that he realized the historical inevitability of a hyperactive Slovenian man explaining his Philosophy entirely through anal sex metaphors. This discovery haunted him until his final moments.

I believe it was my close personal friend Timothy Geithner who once said "I do not agree with what you have to say but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."

It became clear to me after a few weeks that I was being haunted by Slavoj Zizek. I was in the hallway, trying to look like I wasn't walking a bit faster to catch up to a girl I like. I say her name, she turns around and smiles. I make small talk and hope she doesn't notice my anxiety. It was something in my peripheral vision which distracted me from her full and perfect lips. A shadow. I ignored it and asked her if she wanted to get some coffee. "I don't drink coffee." She replied. I could only timidly mumble "I-It's ok, I don't have any coffee." This was the trigger. I looked on the ground and saw cultural critic Slavoj Zizek, smiling a goofy grin and giving two thumbs up. I looked back up, the girl was now Hegel. I have never stopped screaming.

I like the addition of formerly in what appears to be your last post.

So,uhh, what is the deal with Marx ? Does he fundamentally misunderstand Hegel? Does he not understand or disagree with the dominant platonic rhetorical styling of the day? I believe none of the above to be the case, but I can't account for how well received it was for something that I believe to be intentionally revolting.

Do you have any insight into why the middle class has failed to rise to their new found position as the capitalist aristocracy? Is their any hope for society to mend it's relation to the transcendent/ virtue/ the higher good?

Don't think the thread is still alive but worth a shot.
