Look at these bad mofos. I love Tolkien and read the Simarillion at least once a year. I'm sorry i killed a thread for this but I don't get to come to /lit/ a whole lot. Any other Tolkien fans want to chat about the First Children of Iluvatar? They live forever!

Glad you enjoy the elves. They are rather sublime aren't they. Beautiful and serene and sad.

The story of Eol is my favorite. The elf hung on the mountain face by his wrist for God knows how long is a good story, too. He became an orc killing machine.

I am guessing there is a bit of Tolkien burn-out here. Ok, can I make this a general fantasy thread, instead?

This series is pretty awesome for a dark fantasy kind of feel. Lotta epic stuff going on. The characterization is pretty good, too. I love fantasy and read tons, though most of it now is non-fiction stuff.Anyone want to chat about fantasy books?

Not that I wouldn't be happy to talk about Tolkien and/or fantasy, but I don't really have anything to say in particular about it. The topics you've given are too broad. Give me something more specific.

The Green Sun. It's a tiny, tiny book about Tolkien's beliefs. Ever read that one, Anon?
