Hello, /lit/erates.

How many of you take writing not as a hobby, not as a means of escape, but as a full-time job? How many pages/words do you write a day? How many hours of your time do you devote to the ideas (you want to) write?

This is your daily reminder that you should be working.

I don't really write very much... I am trying to read a lot to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to write something then maybe start in a couple years

Yeah, okay, but do you consider writing to be your craft, or just a hobby?

Wow this was inspirational to me. I need to make writing my full time job and write all the time. Thanks for the reminder.

And this is your daily reminder that there are no writers here, stop wasting your time you fucktard, nobody is going to spoonfeed you.

I've seen people here claiming to have one or two novels published. That, my stupid nigger, is a writer.

I do. How much I write each day varies from day to day. Some days I'll write six or seven thousand words in a go. Others I won't type anything up, but I'll spend a good part of my day thinking about it and organizing things in my head while I work around the house, keeping it in order. Little blocks and hiccups happen, but I'm fairly productive. At my current pace I can fully write, edit, and prepare a manuscript for publication in about a year and a quarter. There's no shortage of ideas.

Making a living while writing is always a good dream, but I've discovered a better one. Making a living writing utter trash and enjoying every second of it. Writing popcorn books; the literary equivalent of a well crafted b-movie.

And from a quick look on this thread, there aren't people who enjoy reading here either. It's all the same pretentious cunts who fellate whatever philosopher they find edgiest at the time. Thank you for your contribution, go back to...Whatever it is you things do.

I don't think so, etc.

Actually that is a legitimate response. Whenever anyone asked what Guy de Maupassant was doing with his life he responded "I'm learning my craft." He did that for years and years and years while he sailed for fun and did some stupid jobs. And then he released his short stories and made the whole world jizz.

Granted, he was apprenticing under one of the greatest writers of his time.

Stephen King, for example. He's not stupid, and you can see his intellect shine through in many of his works, but they are still B-movies for the most part. I respect the guy and enjoy his books.

I never said that in the post your referring to.

You should consider learning to read.

That's pretty much exactly what I plan on doing with my life. Just because I write something to be intentionally stupid or campy doesn't mean the writing/book is bad. It's just its own art form. Stephen King's books are well written (except for his godawful endings) and fun. That's what I think a lot of people around here have lost. They're not having FUN when they read.
