What's John Barth's best work in your opinion?

The eponymous story in Lost in the Funhouse. His metafictional tricks are present but more restrained than usual, and there's a really touching undercurrent of pathos running through the story, which is a nice change because his work often leaves me a bit cold.

Where in the world is Taylor Lautner?

>> No.4018533

All his books are mere pyrotechnics, though The Sot-Weed Factor is pretty funny.

check your non-eggheaded privilege, i wonder what an omlette would taste like, pretty metafictional i imagine;

>>4018221
his first two novels are written in a pretty straightforwardly realistic style;
the sot-weed factor is the most accomplished prosewise;
giles goat-boy is breddy borgesian;
chimera is the culmination of his obsession with the storytelling of such works as the thousand and one nights, boccacio, etc.

>>4018533
not enough political commentary
are you one of those readers who think that a presence of great prose must correspond negatively to the presence of substance, i.e. if it's well-written then it can't be deep?
