As much as you'd like to believe otherwise, punctuation and capitalization weren't invented just because some people were bored and wanted to piss you off. They both drastically clarify meaning. There is a world of difference between the sentences, "Aunt Teresa died; she was so fat." and "Aunt Tereca died. She was so fat."

Same is true for capitalization. "They removed all the polish from the house." means something totally different from "They removed all the Polish from the house."

The languages we use are complex and any ready clarification of meaning one can provide is an automatic plus.

I've actually noticed a slow but steady rise in the quality of the grammar and spelling on 4chan.

Like everything else here, I blame it on the slowly aging population. As much as people want to blame it on newfags, the truth is that 4chan has been getting shittier because the people who built and used it became shittier.

I always thought it was a stereotype, but adults really are no fun. This was the real cause for the 'internet culture's' death.
