i agree, the whole summer concept is bullshit

what is actually happenning is that people from /b/, /pol/, /a/, basically from all the shitholes 4chan has to offer migrate to /lit/ or /mu/, adapt their taste and call others 'plebs'. This leads to homogenization of taste (see for example chart threads, last.fm threads etc.)
