Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess. Getting the first edition is crucial.

Just get a book that contains a collection of grandmaster games and study them over and over.

That's all you really need. That and MAYBE a book or two specializing in any particular openings that you end up deciding to specialize in.

But yeah, study real games by real masters is the best way to improve, besides actually playing many games with worthy opponents.
