Hello /lit/! I know there is bound to be some Arty fans out there, so here's the question to discuss.

Mud Faeries.

They are not exclusively mentioned in the book, but in one of the faerie secret texts, you can translate the People's "language". In one, (I think it was the second book, but don't trust me) the text said that if you were able to understand/translate this text, you were a Mud-Faerie, with either one ancestor/parent being one of the People.

So, the question is, what would these Mud-Faeries be able to accomplish? Could they use magic, and in what form? What about height and appearance? What variety of faerie (elf, pixie, gnome, etc.) would have the most half-faerie offspring?

In my opinion, it would depend on the blood-line. If one parent was a Faerie, most likely shorter than the average person by a few inches or more, with more pointed ears (Saying if the parent was elf/pixie) and thinner. Perhaps they could do a weaker version of magic. And the revulsion of meat and animal fat probably effects them at the same level or less, depending on the amount of Faerie blood in them. But this is just my opinion.

Thoughts and opinions?

I used to love those books. Never twigged that there was secret text though - was the text running throughout the book in the headers/footers?
As for mud faerie's i haven't a clue!

love these books. i'm thinking there would be more elf/pixie offspring than any group. i can't really imagine a dwarf/human hybrid. loves the earth, powerful flatulence, magic hair? do trolls count?

Yes, they were. I just guessed that it was Faerie text, seeing how in the first book it described the People's text.

Trolls? Highly doubtful, considering how dangerous they are. Unless it was rape, which might lead to death anyways. Probably less than 2% chance, but maybe. We could discuss it.

Certainly different from the books that were beginning to be cool when I was a kid, but I thought they were pretty mediocre shit.

I would please ask you not to put down the book that we are discussing. This thread is for discussion, nothing more.

It looks like no one wants to discuss this shitty series. Colfer was a faggot anyway, his message to kids was "become normal and you'll be happy."

Delete your thread.

i think dwarf and human since dwarfs pass off easily in the human world and "mud" is like a bastard child of dirt

I don't think it is as complicated as you are thinking about it. I think it basically mean you are an honorary fairie. Nothing complicated. Also, I spent a long time translating that secret text in the novels. Nothing too special. Most of the time it was just hints at would come in future books.

Fantastic fucking series! Started them when I was younger, and read them all the way through my teenage years. I always knew about the code, but never took the time to decipher it.

To Artemis, a unique character that never lost his essence over the years.

i agree with anon here. they call humans mud people or whatever all the time, and blame humans for stealing faerie knowledge, so i think it just means you're a human with faerie knowledge. not complicated
