Since video games suck now I decided to start reading.

So far I've read 2001: a space odyssey. who goes there?, atlas shrugged, watchmen

Can you recommend me something interesting to read for a pleb like me?

Well make up your mind, do you want interesting reading, or pleb reading?

The standard entry route for /lit/ probably involves a mixture of Brave New World, 1984, The Stranger, Slaughterhouse-5 and Catcher in the Rye (there's enough threads about them here anyway).

Ok thanks, you don't read lovecraft do you?

No one on /lit/ reads anything now, they just pose, preen and posture.

I have read some Lovecraft but I don't find it particularly interesting after the first few stories, it just seems to be the same crap in a different setting.

Why are you so interested in HP Lovecraft?

just go away

/lit/ would be far better if there wasn't some turd like you in every thread "hurr durr /lit/ is pretenshus they don't even read books"

Stick around here long enough and you'll feel the same way. I've started coming back here lately after being away a while. I had left because I thought /lit/ was getting bad, and I return to find it beyond awful.

I'd say check out some of Lovecraft's stuff online or at a local library.
I enjoyed some of his short stories, but I wasn't too fond of the whole cthulhu mythos stuff, but that is personal preference. Like I said, try some of his stuff out and see if you like it.

Since you were interested in Lovecraft, what about Edgar Allan Poe?

Other than that, try out a few of the entry level chart. I have read nearly all of them and they are good books. Anything you are particulary interested in OP?

>> No.3736110

If you like war, try Hemingway, he has a very accessible prose.

>> No.3736124

OP, check out at the mountains of madness for a mid length HP lovecraft novella whoch sums up his shit fairly well. Its alright.

As another anon suggested, you hould check out poe over lovecraft for interesting victorian era horror. there's a book called the portable poe which has more or less all his stuff in one. Alternatively or additionally, check out the king in yellow by robert w. Chambers for atmospheric horror, then later on generally decent short stories.

APologies for capitalisation, phone is playing up.

The First Law series should quench the thirst for violence vidya has branded into you.

And I'm part of the unpopular minority who thinks Shakespeare will never stop being as good as new.

Color Out of Space
I think I read somewhere that Color Out of Space was Lovecraft's favorite story he wrote.
