idealism or Idealism?

Idealism is a philosophical 'stance' regarding the fundamental ontological matters of reality.
Atheism is a 'stance' regarding religion (the denial of anthropomorphized deities)

You can be an Idealist concerning the fundamental nature of reality and at the same time an atheist concerning religion.
You can be an Idealist concerning the fundamental nature of reality and not have a 'stance' concerning religion.
And you can be an atheist concerning religion and not be philosophically literate at all.

Do your own homework, pleb.

and I just wanted some books regarding a relationship between the two

>> No.3636558

There is no real relationship. Idealists can be theist or atheists. There are also nontheist idealists.

They are very much distinct. It's rather silly and bizarre that you're interested in some kind of relationship of the 2.

Kant and Schop were Idealists and wrote extensively about religion too. Try them.

but it seems to me hard to justify being an idealist and being an atheist at the same time
>we don't know if objects exist, but we know that god doesn't
it seems easier to be a materialist and an atheist

I'm not whining, it's just a thought
would you rather I make an existential crisis thread?

Yes, bravo. Be a materialist instead.

Thats just your opinion man. But really, its more prevalent to be materialist in western nations due to the greeks influence. Where as in the east, theres Materialist/Idealist/Anti-essentialist/etc

Obviously. That doesn't mean that modern materialism isn't inspired by some of the Ancients.
