The Cold War is a subject that fascinates me, and I desire a proper book to enable me to form a decent understanding of the politics and proxy wars of this period.

I ask you dear /lit/, can you suggest a fine selection of books that include the events that occurred immediately after World War 2's conclusion, the breakdown of relations between the powers and the international incidents that brought the whole world to a stand still.

Start with the biography of Tito by Jasper Ridley. Buy it used for a few bucks max., as there is no edition after 1991. It gives you a GREAT view on the proxy wars from the Eastern point of view, not only Yugoslav.
