Isn't that the point? He writes whatever he wants, and that part was quite ambiguous. Enough for the reader to make assumptions given Severian's unreliability as a narrator. Besides, he mentioned Dorcas was pretty mad at him. I suppose they would have kept it secret if it was consensual.

This book is one of the kind that needs to be read several times. At first I thought it was just about some guy killing people for money and banging every woman he saw, but when I turned the last page I was wondering what the fuck I had just read.

I think the whole "use real words instead of made up words" should be used in more fantasy novels. E.g. "fuligin"

Oh man, all of those stories were great, also the one about the artificial man killing the sea god. I was sad as fuck when the camp got attacked and everyone died, it felt like you lost some friends man.

And shit, don't get me started on that damn alzabo, the story decided to go full horror with that shit. Little Severian..and.. Typhon...I have to say for those are two of the most chilling parts of the entire story.
