Just finished the last of the hunger games books. I thoroughly enjoyed reading them all, despite a couple of my friends saying they seemed rushed in parts.

People who i talk to about when katniss shoots Coin instead of Snow are stuck in the belief that it was because she believed what Snow told her about Coin calling the hovercraft in, and that she thought she was doing the right thing by killing the pretty-much female version of Snow.
I agree that this is what katniss believed and that this is the reason she shot her, but what i don't think is true is that Coin was the one that dropped the parachutes towards the end.
I think that Snow was the one that called the order, knowing that he was defeated, and made the call, knowing he'd get a chance to inform katniss that it was Coin later.
Snow manipulates katniss throughout the whole series and I believe it was Snow's last manipulatory move before his execution.
It would explain why, after katniss shoots the arrow into Coin, Snow is laughing and gargling on his own poison-induced blood as a result.

What do you think, /lit/?

They were easy reads and a nice break from the game of thrones.

Instead of discussing the already paper thin themes in this pathetic excuse for a novel series you want to talk about shitty and trivial plot concerns. Have some self-respect and take this garbage off /lit/.

Nothing about them is easy to read. The prose is horrible and there is no kind of style or structure to the writing. Collins doesn't have a clue how to use a sentence, paragraph, chapter OR scene.

I became dumber for having read the first book.

Most people here would read Game of Thrones for the same reason.

Are you implying that this is the easy read you take to distract you when game of thrones gets too much?

Essentially this.

The main character gave me cancer. Couldn't finish the first book.

I think that the first book was decent even if it's a concept done to death, the universe was interesting, and the last 1/4 of the final book ruined all the series. No need to kill like 10 characters in a single chapter for shock value or whatever the fuck it was.

I enjoyed the first two books. The first part of the third book was okay, I guess, but after that, so much shit started happening, and the ending didn't make sense--with Peeta and Katniss. It was pretty out of place.

I think he was laughing because he really enjoyed what Katniss did--something entertaining to see before he dies.

I believe that Coin was the one who called the order and Gale is to blame also.

>> No.3392348

Katniss shoots Coin because while Snow's already a deadman either way Coin's no better than him and it was a great and showy opportunity to do so.

Well, there's Battle Royale too.

True that, but I still believe HP didn't make as many blunders towards the end as the Hunger Games.
