>First day in my online Philosophy class.

>People arguing in the forums whether Plato was guilty or not.

This will be a long semester.

I think the point OP was making is that Plato wasn't even on trial. Socrates was.

>Mad

Do you even know what you're talking about?

It has nothing to do with opinion

It has nothing to do with super-elite books

It wasn't actually Plato on trial, it was his POV of Socrates' trial.

Calm down, friend.

and by that i mean some classes. I was a Math major and those classes never had it. Higher level classes also probably didn't since they're more professor directed than based on syllabuses.

There's no a right answer in philosophy, but a conjuntion of reasons. The term "aporetic" sounds familiar for you? The Plato dialogues are escencially a overflow of aporetic stuff, Socrates was innocent but for his moral sake he accepted die.
Read the Fedón.

>first year at a shit university
>this, all day, every single day

It's not that bad when it's a gen-ed course or a something a lot of people take as an elective, because it's not inside their area of interest. But when it's a class full of people who are clearly inside their major, and some claim to be working toward graduate degrees, it is fucking terrifying sometimes how stupid people can be and still coast by with a passing grade.
