Does anyone sympathize with the Patrick Bateman of the book version of American Psycho?

Seems like Ellis did everything he possibly could to make even a highly disturbed reader find a way NOT to sympathize with Bateman. Praising Huey Lewis and the News? That right there is reason enough to loathe him.
