How do you stick with a story and continue to write until it is finished. I'm going to try writing through the night until dawn to see if I can get any writing done that way.

What are your writing rituals?

I installed a timelock on my cellar door, there's nothing in there except a box of candles, a fountain pen and 192 sheets of off-white paper.

I try to read at least twice as much as I write, so I read until something strikes me in what I'm reading... then I usually write until I pass out for the day. I've woken up with a pen in my hand more times than I can count. Even ruined a perfectly good sent of sheets because it bled everywhere, ha.

I don't suggest trying to write in a marathon like that unless you know it works for you. The best published writers I know personally take frequent breaks to let their brains recharge. It's like running a marathon... if you're not trained properly you're going to end up frustrated and doubting your abilities.

Good luck, OP.

And mold-born illness?

Starting on the first I'm writing 2,000 words a day, five days a week. I'm going to edit on Sundays and take a day off.

HOLD ME TO IT YOU FUCKERS

this. the best writers that i know personally, at least the ones who have multiple pulitzers, would agree with your post 100 percent. however, the irony is palpable when i stop myself mid-sentence and realize that the only nobel prize winner that i club with is exactly the opposite.

god i sound like an elite snob, and i hate when others do that. please accept my profoundest apology, but being a professor of elizabethan lit at harvard leads to some rather exclusive social circles.

don't edit until your first draft is done, anon! that's a cardinal rule of writing!

Fuck your cardinal rules.
