Do you want to read works from the same time period in the Eastern world?

>> No.3229351

>>3229348
Not really. Trying to keep it European.

>> No.3229366

Medieval literature in general? You're missing all of the Icelandic sagas, the Poetic Edda, The Tain, the Nibelungenlied, the Mabinogion, and the Book of Dede Korkut.

>> No.3229373

The Travels of Marco Polo and The Travels of Sir John Mandeville.

I guess I'm more interested in Arthurian Romances.

how come? that's a little silly. there was a lot of exchange between the near east and europe during the middle ages.

The Decameron is definitely not that, if you were thinking so. Laxdaela Saga might at least interest you, as it's another chivalric tale.

>> No.3229392

>>3229382
Cool, I'll check it out. Thanks!
>>3229378
Still trying to get a feel for Europe at the time. I figure I'll have an easier time if I keep the subject matter centered in one location geographically.

I read that recently. Bunch of stuff about slaughtering cities of unbelievers... also, all of my lels when medieval folk thought that Muslims worshiped Muhammad and Apollo.

It's not like someone who owns those books will own those and nothing else.

It's silly to avoid reading a work just because the only publisher who has published it has also published a lot of other books you own.

Its just too much and they look ghetto all lined up on a shelf. Makes me wanna slap the owner when ever I see a shelf full of penguin classics.
I can understand when its only been published by one publisher, but I know its not the case for all these books.

Arthurian but not medieval. You could just as well add The Once and Future King and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court there.

I'm in a uni course on Medieval and Middle English lit right now. Are you planning to read them in their original form, prior to translation?
'Cause although Sir Gowther might be easy, you're gonna have a bad time when it comes to King Horn and Gawain and the Green Knight. I'd suggest starting off with Sir Orpheo.

Also Malory's Mort is pretty exhaustive, IMO. Good luck finishing that shit. Everybody's a virgin and nobody wins besides Galahad.
....spoiler alert lel
