By the way, the reason this is noteworthy is because the OP managed to buy 5 books for $25.

>> No.3178075

Because content shouldn't be promoted and put ahead of others based on popular opinion.

I had a male co-worker who bought and read all the twilight books circa 2009. We never stopped making fun of him.

There are no words.

there's something to be said for picking up a clearly quite old paperback of a classic novel or anthology, sans USED sticker, for $0.50 at a library book sale—ditto a hardcover for $1. beyond that, i would just pay full price for a new book, or pirate the digital edition.

I always make a face when someone talks about about twilight. Today my cousin, who I never see told me she's read them and I made that stupid face. Now I feel kind of bad.

You trollin?

The movies were based off the books. The LotR trilogy was originally published between 1954 and 1955.

They slapped some new covers on to make some more money from the movie hype, but the story is still 57 years old.

Don't be absurd, everyone knows the 1954/1955 copyright date was a ruse invented by Peter Jackson to make his movies essential viewing for anyone over the age of 18.

Which is itself silly, since LOTR is for children.

Actually the sole fact that people are willing to read what ever you write is a compliment. The cash aspect is secondary to anyone who doesn't live on writing books.

I do however always buy my books at full price. If I can spend money on booze and will damn well spend money on books, especially if I think the author deserves to have my cash.
