/lit/ you come to me with novels about mighty dragons and daring men. You come to me with pieces implying how I think. You come to me telling me to indulge myself into the works of some obscure Russian prisoner. I will now come to you with a piece that will provide some utility in your life. This time tested masterpiece won't 'woo' you with elegant prose or pretentious babble. It will not assume upon itself anything other than the simple clear cut goal of becoming a man in timeless society. Embrace this simple work and it shall transform hence.

We must be trending on reddit or something. Just channel your inner Gore Vidal and give them a does of ascerbic wit.

On that note: Every time a friend succeeds, I die a little.

The problem with Dale Carnegie's book is that is mixes self development with development of sales skills. It goes without saying that those two are not always peaceable. If you follow his advice, you definitely are less likely to let your Jimmies Rustle publicly, but your way of interacting with people tends to take on a subservient air. "How can I please this person", "How can I make this person like me". People pick up on this, and if they feel you are attempting to manipulate them it can become unpleasant.

All in all, a good book, and I would recommend Just don't take it as Gospel.
