Usually this. But there are exceptions. Especially if it's a set. If I'm buying a book series, I go out of my way to make sure they all have the same cover artist.

It's a really nice collection, I think. It's split into two parts: Against Tyranny and How to Live. The first is comprised of Against Verres, the Second Philippic Against Antony and some of his letters, which include letters to and from Caesar and Pompey. The second has On Duties and On Old Age; the latter "anticipates Schopenhauer and modern gerontological research," according to the introduction. Translation (by Michael Grant) is in mostly contemporary English, so some of the rhetoric is lost but it flows very well. There's also an effort on giving context in the introductions not just for contemporary events, but greater historical events as well (bits about French Revolutionaries being inspired by Cicero and such).

If you were gonna collect something to look good, why choose Penguin classics? I mean, I like Penguin classics -- they're very readable, they have decent covers, and decent notes -- but those spines crease like nobody's business. You can barely open them without getting an ugly white line down the side.

My collection of Penguin classics:

Seriously.

I have Wuthering Heights in a shitty small Vintage 'not for resale' version too.
