Y'all niggaz posting in my thread now.

Also, my new book's called Run Like a Cheetah, Think Like a Giraffe. It's about a young Steve Harvey giving out the advice that inspired him to write Act like a Lady, Think like a Man. Its a meta-narrative about the writing of my previous book.
The people buying it'll think im being deep and edgy for wandering into new territory, but in all reality im too lazy to think up anything new and i still cut a fat paycheck out of the whore.
Well, good night lit and fuck you.

She is taking a lit class and is going to be reading some Faulkner whom I see talked about on here.

I haven't read him, but she says A Rose for Emily is pretty good and kind of dark.

Your 3 favorite books are terrible garbage that people only read because other people tell them that they're classics.

At least your girlfriend reads for enjoyment.

No, Moby Dick is great and a precursor to the good kind of fantasy writing. A thoroughly enjoyable work if you can get used to the dated language.

Seconded. One of the req. reading books in school that got me interested in books beyond shitty fantasy/sci-fi. Amazing work about the human condition. One of the rare occasions they tell you its a classic because its fucking amazing.

Out of interest what is with the necessity for good 'taste'. Is that representative of /lit/ as a whole? Is it representative of literature as a whole?

I've been here for a while now but have held off asking such a question for fear of derision but it must be said that I've never seen people in any other medium concerned with the idea of good taste as much as /lit/ is. Some of you must be academically educated in literature. You must know that taste is rarely ever important.
