Hey /lit/
Anyone know of any good books where the story has a main character you has to use sign language and/or is deaf?

Bonus points if they have a shitty life or are misunderstood and whatnot.

The Story of My Life, by Helen Keller.

It doesn't match what you're requesting, but you might find No Longer Human works too. It's a great novel regardless.

I need it a bit more contemporary literature than that...
I'm preforming a DI and I wanted to do it in asl.
Last year I did a cutting from "Out of my Mind" by Sharon M. Draper and the piece worked really well.

I'll look at that. Thanks...

Also. Ignore my spelling and grammar errors. I'm just tired.

OP, if you haven't seen "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" yet, check it out, definitely.

'Chattering' by Louise Stern, it's a collection of short stories but all the protagonists are deaf, without being at all gimmicky.

Katawa Shoujo.

Depends on your definition of 'book', though.
