I'm pretty comfortable with the post-modern movement we're participating in right now. As an artist, it allows me to steal from everyone I want :>

I'm also grateful for the wealth of styles laid out for us to take from. We are able, and seem to be, far more eclectic than ever before.

do people really like art "movements" as a whole?
i dunno, abstract something-or-other. not pollock, fuck that guy
if someone asked what my favourite literary movement was it wouldn't include my favourite author, for instance, it would just be a group that i thought was cool because they hung out and had a decent time
so what do you mean by liking the movement?

Abstract Expressionism because I like the imagery and the difficulty and opposition the artists had creating it and living like bums makes it somehow more authentic and sincere.

They're interrelated concepts, when you talk of absurdism in the literature sense and not the philosophic sense, and, given this is Lit, I'm free to assume the literature use. So the joke works for it as well.
>>2860924
No, I was the one arguing the usefulness of the concept and it's literary merit. and then I made pretty much the same kind of nonsense joke, but that time people didn't jump all over my ass for it, must be the clothes I'm wearing today.

I love how the Russian futurists accepted the tenets of Marinetti's Futurist manifesto, but they basically ignored Marinetti when he went to Russia to promote Futurism because they refused to acknowledge any authority.

absurdism in the literature sense is the philosophical meaning.

just use 'surrealism' and there is no confusion.

There were many years beforethe CIA funded a few exhibitions. You should read up on them, might learn something

>> No.2861829

Don't think I have a "favorite" movement. Rather I have affinities for players in each movement, mostly the big names you've all heard, although some of them maybe you've only heard a handful of times. When it comes down to the present moment and backwards of, say, 100 years, there's really just so many various artists that have it goin on for completely different reasons.

In a different light, Conceptual Art is my least favorite movement. It's just so didactic and boring and has convinced the art world that artists are the one's who are going to solve the world's problems. The Conceptual Movement is not only a sad ideology but it has successfully distanced art from the general populace more than any other movement.

>> No.2861842

I'd probably say Surrealism if you wanted a snap answer. But if you wanted a deeper answer I enjoy what I enjoy.
