Big deal, dickwad. I've been published, no one care and neither did I. Writing into your drawer and getting your stuff published doesn't really make that much of a difference.

Anyone remember poetry.com?

About ten years ago, they were a similar operation to this, and it annoyed the shit out of me that my sister was boasting that Poetry.com accepted 4 (!) of her poems, so I did some research and found out they accepted and print every poem that gets submitted to them (like TAR, actually). To prove it to my sister, I sent in a list of titles I had on my shelf, like:

The Picture of Dorian Gray
Then, nausea.
and The French Revolution
Are you there God?
It's me the life of pi.

And showed her the acceptance letter (much like OP's) when it came.

If you got paid, then yes, props to you...If you just got published, still ok, but I've published like 13 of those..kept getting hit up to buy the book my poem was in and to buy tickets to a poets convention..lol...no sale. But it does feel good to be published, so good for you either way...

And here is the actual poem, ladies and gentlemen:

Sadness
Piercing, seething, throbbing sadness
My chest constricted, every breath a fight against myself
And although my heart keeps beating, there is no life in my veins
Sadness
The sun outside taunts me, for I have no warmth in me
An icy hand is sifting through my memories, stirring up pain and tears
I see no color, only grey
Sadness
It chokes out all other feelings
A boundless human prison
It needs no walls to keep me in
Sadness
There is nothing else

Nope. That bad boy is taken straight from the Reddit thread. I personally believe this guy is up there with Keats and Eliot, and rightly deserves a place in the western canon.

>> No.2847831

...keep in mind the dude is probably like 16, that there is some structure, that it does sorta convey, although perhaps roughly, an emotional experience...I think you should keep writing, maybe make it more "personal" in that you give us a character, not just th emotion...just an idea....

This thread is pretty bad, it turns out. One poem wouldn't mean much anyway (IMO). Get a novel published, THEN I'll be impressed.
