I dunno, I enjoyed it as a novella. No White Noise or Libra, obviously, but it was still a good piece of literature.

I hate my 9th grade english professor for turning me off to Steinbeck for so long by making us read that shit.

I read it and enjoyed it. Nothing great but I wouldn't call it a bad novel.

What didn't you like about it?

I absolutely despise this book, but love everything else by Terry Pratchett. Witches Abroad is the most glorious book I've ever read.

Kind of agree with you. Soul Music was definitely one of the weaker Pratchett offerings and Witches Abroad is the best from the witches storyline.

Everything by Stephen King. I know he's a good writer. I'm very aware. But I just don't like his books. I don't like his plots or his characters. But I KNOW he can write and I know he's capable of more than what he's been doing. Mother fucker just needs to do it.
best thing he ever wrote was On Writing. I've never been able to get through anything else of his. But that book is gospel to me

Grapes of wrath was a huge let down for me.
I liked of mice and men and I really loved east of Eden.
Then when I came to read what was supposed to be his best work I was disappointed.

>> No.2667905

I really liked both of those as well. Grapes of Wrath has always been my favorite of his, though.

Hey Benny, you like Faulkner, right?
Which are his best novels outside of his "Big Four"?

I've only read The Sound and The Fury, Light in August, and As I Lay Dying. I started Requiem For A Nun and Absalom, Absalom! at different points but never got around to finishing them for whatever reason. I'm not exceedingly well-read when it comes to the man, but I'm a huge fan.

Ah, alright.

I've only read As I Lay Dying and S&F, and A, A! and LiA are givens as far as beginning to go through his oeuvre, but from there it seems like a bit of a crap shoot, although I've heard good things about Go Down, Moses.

>> No.2667963

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go back at some point and go through them chronologically. I've heard good things about The Wild Palms as well.
