Everything he does is so deeply about trying forge an identity, linking himself to knights templar and masons, posing in photos he distributes, creating his own club the "justicar knights", christianity just fits into the long narrative of these little clubs that he tries to wear as mantel. His only real identity is his constant overbearing need to try and shape an identity. That's what this all comes down to, the rhetoric about muslims wiping out the culture (and an almost envious admiring tone by which he talks about their organizations). He's convinced he's no one, so he wrapped himself in as many banners and shields as he could find and forced himself onto the news.
