man i read 2 of his books (welcome to the desert of the real and violence) AND 2 of his movies (zizek! and pervert's guide) and all i felt was pseudo-intellectual for a while

he's just a contrarian with no substance, but his movie criticisms are pretty interesting

Good post, would read again. Also, Zizek's movie criticism is superficial and inane, the only parts that sound profound is when he spouts Lacanianisms, which is the only thing those are good for in any case. For example, he demands a third pill in his Matrix analysis. Even the vertical with Batman and the Joker is a way better critical analysis of the pill scene than that. For those of you who don't know it: The Joker decides to take both the pills offered, a kick-ass deconstruction of the scene as well as a great fit on the Batman characters (considering the Joker's characterization in The Dark Knight).
