2561887 No.2561887 [Reply] [Original]

I'm house-sitting tonight. The reading room has a bust of Borges oddly enough. So I thought I would share my intro to Borges with you. It's all for you.

>> No.2561890

And so it starts.

Fuck you, Adorno. Fuck you for starting up the same old blatant bullshit trolling that you always used to do.

Why arent you out right now getting into chaka shit and trying to bang random hipster broads in hopes of drowning out your memories of Zizekgirl?

As to Borges, he is wasted on these monoglot Anglophone swine. Let them go suck off Gabo or Allende.

It's already been pointed out that Borges helped with his own translations. Spanish and English aren't that far apart and aren't that difficult to go between. I have no idea why Adorno keeps complimenting himself and the Spanish language so peculiarly. For the record, I can read Spanish.

I can kind of read spanish. Like I get it, but not all of it. 70ish percent. Spanish is the easiest language on earth to learn, if you know some french or other romance languages. The hardest part is gendered nouns (but you don't really need to know that that well to read it). As for word order, it's much more flexible than English. Plus it sounds amazing.

But I think the historical Adorno would be disappointed in this offering by his eponymous tripfiend.

>> No.2562054

If there is a hell, then I would think that the historical Adorno would be far more preoccupied with figuring out what he did to deserve being anally penetrated with a flute until Christ returns to us than with the musings of a young political theorist on translation.

What I don't like about OPs picture is that simulation is used for two wildly different processes. If simulation really denotes both the translation of a novel (I assume it is one, in any case a literary work) and the relation between the original work and its 'content', simulation is far too broad a term to be in any way useful.

Sabbatical professor student pet situations usually. Ratio of this goes up in private universities.

If you are a model student and an instructor fancies you to follow in their footsteps they naturally like to simultaneously "show off" and give you an "opportunity" to enjoy the finer life academia provides.

I've seen it happen a few times in my life.
