The Crying of Lot 49?

>> No.2521172

How is it a mystery type book
all amazon gives me is this

>Suffused with rich satire, chaotic brilliance, verbal turbulence and wild humour, The Crying of Lot 49 opens as Oedipa Maas discovers that she haas been made executrix of a former lover's estate. The performance of her duties sets her on a strange trail of detection, in which bizarre characters crowd in to help or confuse her. But gradually, death, drugs, madness and marriage combine to leave Oepida in isolation on the threshold of revelation, awaiting The Crying of Lot 49.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but which Dick book did you enjoy the most? I'm currently getting to know his works myself.

erm I dont really know as there are a few.
Most of them besides a scanner darkly start of proper shit I think, then they start getting interesting and then leave me mind fucked
ubik is one that comes to mind.

depends what you want really
I got a book what contained electric sheep, man in the high castle,The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch and ubik.
then I bought scanner darkly and now Ive also read a maze of death and flow my tears.

I would say look up elctric sheep, three stigmata and a scanner darkly.

>>2521200
I will look them up

Thanks for the recommendations. I haven't read those three yet.

I did go through Ubik, High Castle, one-I-can't-quite-recall-the-name-of, and a short one about a man returning to his home town that I'll be damned if I remember what it was called. And they all felt the good kind of strange.

Not that guy (though you should be able to tell by my spelling), but A Scanner Darkly is the best. Read it.

OP, are you looking for books or movies? I am so confused...

books but like that film muholland drive where it gives you little clues so you can try and work out what is happening and they dont give you a proper ending s you have to think for your self.
