Do you respect this worldview /lit/

Facts are like a loudmouth who spoils the ending of a movie. I prefer to have everything fun and mysterious.

I guess I respect their right to hope there is a God while admitting that "the facts" do not currently support the existence of a God

i'm not a theologyfag, but it reminds me of some early christianity shit i was reading about where they believed that the human brain couldn't possibly comprehend god, so it could never detect him using facts.

i probably butchered that, but does anybody know what i mean?

think so, augustine basically flatly said that mortals can't comprehend god or god's plan, and the only thing we can do is obey. he even went so far as to solve the omniscience/free will problem by saying that yes, god does know who will be saved and who is doomed, and always knew, and can alter it any time he likes, but he won't. there's nothing you can do to achieve salvation if you're not "on the list." his reasoning as to why this isn't grotesque was basically ">implying you can comprehend god's reasoning"

I sometimes think, "Nah, it's 2012. Nobody does that anymore."

How utterly fucking wrong I often am.
