Those deaths occured because individuals were killed by human beings, NOT by ideologies.

The entire picture is flawed because its argument depends entirely on the fallacy of reification.

Idealogies don't kill people, people kill people. The shitload of famine and other deaths in Mao's China weren't very much related to either Marx or Lenin. Neither were the deaths by German hands necessarily related to nazism. Opposites clash, people fight and people die. You could just as easily throw around silly numbers about "deaths as a result of capitalism".

It is not really fair to call, say, a brutally oppressive Bolshevik dictatorship established under the guise of communism simply "communism" and the same thing can be said about other alleged communist countries, and national socialism.

Sure. I think it's easier to assume WW2 was a real war, one the allies won. Now when you have an enemy it's best to portray them as pure evil. Remember how nazis have no feelings and care only about killing as much people as possible and reducing freedom? When you win a war, you can show to everyone how right you were.
Americans write aluminum (just an example), that's not because the top scientists couldn't write aluminium anymore, it's probably more because the lower educated people weren't quite as good at it, and they were with a lot more. Especially back in the '40s/'50s there were more un- or lower educated people around, they care less about objective information somehow. Then in the Cold War true honesty wasn't top priority of education, nothing really bad with that, I think it only raised the American morale.
