Hey /lit/, this is my second post on this board - the prior being one about Thoreau's Walden which crashed in fire and smoke.

Anyway, for personal pleasure I am engaging in a multi-faceted study of Norse anthropology (mythology, music, art, but mostly literature).

tl;dr FUCKING VIKINGS NIGGA

Anyway, all things Norse may be placed in this thread; recommendations of all brands welcome.

What lit is there on gay vikings? Like historical lit?

I've been reading this lately. I highly recommend it.

That's on my list. I'm starting with a book about Norse mythology and tales for background knowledge first.

Notice what he's doing to that horn? Always nice to know a guy who works the shaft while he's sucking!

You might enjoy the trilogy of books by Jan Fridegard starting with Land of Wooden Gods. It's Viking historical fiction, but concentrates on the life of thralls instead of the Vikings themselves. It's known for it's historical accuracy.

I recall once hearing about a series of romance novels about a time-traveling viking navy seal... did that actually happen or was on some sort of crazy drug.

I suggest you read the Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda. Search out all of the sagas you can. Read up on Germanic history, too.

>> No.2465542

Hey, OP, or anyone else; should I read the Prose Edda by Snorri Sturluson?
Any good translations? (Although English is my second language, so I may want to read it in Spanish).

You should check out some of the icelandic sagas, for example : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egils_saga and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nj%C3%A1l%27s_saga.. They are mostly about revenge, honor, brutal kills and exaggerated characters with no clear morality, basically what viking culture is all about.
