I just found her poetry today, and I can't get over it. I started "Requiem" and could not put it down. I want to share some of it with you. Will post more if there is interest.

I don't feel like copying it all from the book, but her poetry is about oppression in the USSR. Her first husband was executed by the Bolsheviks, and her third husband was imprisoned by the Stalinists. The story of her third husband is the basis for "Requiem".

Reqiuem is raddddddd seriously it fucking is rad as hell. There's a translation on jstor that I like a lot, there's a lot of translations of it really. Very affective poem. As a deeply human response to the totalitarian condition.

"So much to be done before tomorrow: / Crush the memory till no thoughts remain, / carve a heart in stone, immune to sorrow / Teach myself to face life once again."

Beautiful shit indeed. I HAVE to borrow that book from the library again. I was too busy with other stuff to fully appreciate her verses. But yeah, recommended, erected, loved and sage'd.
