I've been reading the Black Company and it makes me really want to read some books about powerful wizards. Wizards who are emperors and god-kings, and have the power to destroy armies. Not wimpy little wizards in bathrobes who still get beat up for their lunch money after they run out of magic missiles.

Any recommendations? It doesn't even have to be fantasy. Space wizards are fine too.
