I saw them trying to solve it once, Idk.

I live in Putnam County, NY and let me tell you...that's not our problem of the day.

lol @ the literati not being good at math. do you faggots believe in that "left brain/right brain" bullshit and just give up?

No I'm just not interested in math.

to each his own. math is the language of the universe. surprised more /lit/erati aren't into it at least on some level.

Why is it that every great scientist was interested in humanities and read a copious amount of philosophy? You have no excuse.

>> No.2395995

>>2395991

One field is more accessible than the other. Furthermore, reading a lot of literature and philosophy does not make one a scholar of literature and/or philosophy.

>> No.2395997

>>2395987

The universe is uninteresting and largely full of nothing.

>> No.2396005

>>2395995
But math is accessible. Also, many scientists are still interested in philosophy & literature nonetheless. I bet you're the kind of guy that failed at math in high school and you recoil whenever you see an integral.

>> No.2396018

f(1) = 2 + (2+1) = 5
f(2) = 4 + (4+1) = 9
f(3) = 6 + 7 = 13
f(4) = 8 + 9 = 17
f(5) = 10 + 11 = 21
...
f(100) = 200 + 201 = 401

It diverges because it is obviously approaching infinity and not a finite number. Don't know how to reword that into a proof by induction, sorry.

>But math is accessible.

Not nearly as accessible as literature and philosophy. You can open nearly any book on either and have a superficial understanding of it.

Furthermore, I did not go to high school, and have never studied math beyond college algebra and college statistics, and don't intend to. However, I never got lower than an A.

>> No.2396024

Math is accessible, people just give up on it easily because current culture encourages bullshitting and it's easier to bullshit through a humanities degree.

>> No.2396027

I look forward to your sociology dissertation. Do you have any prospective publishers?

Or are you just bullshitting?

Like people didn't always bullshit.

>> No.2396037

Let's not turn this into a maths vs. humanities debate. Let's just admit that humanities majors are generally lazy as shit but get laid more often than math majors.

I'd really like to begin studying mathematics again, I feel like my focus is too singularly linguistic recently. I suppose I'll write up a plan in the coming weeks.

>> No.2396041

That's because no girl ever does math in college. I wonder why..

>> No.2396042

>>2396018

Fuck it. I'll give it a go.
for n = 1,
1 < 5

for any n = k,
k < 2*k + 2*k + 1

and for any n = k + 1,
k+1 < 2*(k+1) + 2*(k+1) + 1

obviously,
k + 1 > k

therefore, as the n approaches infinity, k approaches infinity

I don't know, did they? Go back and read the published personal journals of famous writers and scientists of the past. Did it seem like they were full of shit or that they actually took their studies seriously?

contd.
Now look at the interviews/blogs of famous writers today. Bullshit all around.
