People always tell me, "write what you know"

but what the hell am I supposed to do when I'm trying to write a character-focused drama only to realize I can't model interesting character relations because I'm so isolated and asocial?

Take all your knowledge from films and books.
Pass it off as your own

Antisocial authors are not true antisocials. They write because they WANT to reach people. They are antisocial because something keeps them from making connections. Insecurity, fear, maybe they've been hurt in the past. The desire to be social, to be loved, to make a human connection, drives the writing. it also causes them to simulate relationships, conversations, reactions, all in their head. Thats how they write them so convincingly without having them. When they see people talking they study them, because they long to BE them. Normal, connected, alive.

If you are social you don't need to simulate interactions in your head because you lived them.

If you are a true antisocial with no interest in interaction with other people, you will not be able to write convincing character interactions. Sorry. You could compensate by making your characters extremely alien or something. A lot of people with your problem write sci fi so that they have the excuse of characters being alien/futuristic.

Stop projecting.

>>2393094
Go have experiences, OP. Without a little bit of contact with the outside world, your characters and ideas will become more a more insular and inaccessible to others.

Stop worrying about it and just make some people up.

But if you're really having trouble, use inanimate objects instead of people as characters. Then when you're done give them names like "Tom" and "Sylvia".

See it as scientific work. And just change your hypothesis.

E.g:
>I wan to write about love.
>Write about love.
>Holy fuck I can't write about love cause i never loved.
>Change book to "I can't love"
