Who's Shakespeare

>> No.2393025

The only reason people like this guy is because he's old. All his plays end with everyone dying anyway. No one today talks like his plays so it's pointless to look at it.

let's just ignore the vast amount words he created.
including a VERY popular parlance on this site: "bump"

Yea, its pointless for most people to be forced to read willys writing.

The only POINT to reading is for enjoyment or information. If you dont hang around the type of people that would appreciate W.S. references thrown into conversation, don't enjoy his work, and are not reading it for academic purposes, there is no point. There is no point to pretty much any literature.

Yeah Shakespeare might as well have never existed. That Caleum, on the other hand, will be talked about for centuries to come.

But is he relevant today?
Those words are everywhere else now. His templates are used in films that lack originality.
He is the reason Infinite Jest exists.
Fuck him

If books, films and plays "don't matter", then how does anything else?

His works are timeless. Your argument is invalid.

It doesn't have to be relevant to anything but the individual observer/listener.
I can relate to some of Shakespeare's work, so he is relevant to me.

I made an argument. You did not. You just started stating things like i had said them. Things that didn't follow from what I said.

Thats like a non sequitur fucked a strawman and had your argument as a baby. Now don't make me address and embarrass you. Get out of here.
