Just use the oxford comma. I used it when taking all of my tests and what not. Didn't get an error whiling using it on my essays.

What do you mean it's unnatural to pause before reciting a list?

Use a fucking semi-colon if it bothers you so much, more flighty than colons and it's acceptable here since there is already a colon in the sentence (I assume it's the same sentence because there is no capitalisation of 'we').

I thought the Oxford comma has been officially abandoned by Oxford.

Why would anyone not use the oxford comma? It prevents any possible confusion, and I have no idea how a single extra comma clutters up a sentence.
