/lit/ is an extremely cyclical board that goes through periods of undisturbed, excellent literary discussion before lapsing into eras of tripfaggotry and shit. It always recovers though, sometimes it takes longer than others.

Outside its patent retardery and spamming, /sp/ is one of the most intelligent boards on 4chan, freelz.

When they do settle down to discuss a book or a movie, it's generally in quite an insightful and intelligent way. They've also read books that aren't on high school reading lists, so you get a bit of variety other than Joyce/DFW/Rand/Salinger.

Of course most of the time it's just power rankings and would you tip Mila Kunis' feet if they slapped your GF on the ass in a club, but it's a busy board, there's a Great Lake of piss in there, if not an ocean.
