I fucking loved that book! By the end, I was extremely sad about how young Lermontov was when he died. When I read it, I thought of the book as sort of a Russian Huck Finn - both involving adolescents who embody much of their respective cultures trying to come to terms with the world around them and also having a sense of adventure in one region of the relatively enormous country in which they live.
