He is a haunting spectre, domineering and overbearing, that can neither be escaped nor avoided, that one cannot hope to equal let alone surpass, everything that ever was or ever will be is a hopelessly contrived allusion, whether intentionally or not, to him.

I honestly think that, if someone believes this, they don't enjoy literature, they don't enjoy culture, they don't enjoy the specifics of texts, they just enjoy some hollow, kitschy notion of Profound Greatness. And that therefore they're not equipped to really enjoy Shakespeare himself.

If he was really worth a damn he would have more hair. That hairline does not speak to greatness I'm therefore forced to assume Shakespeare is mid

But who wrote the "Shakespearean plays"? Let's look at the internal evidence:
1- There is no mention of his authorship in the main body of his plays
2- Some of his texts show a familiarity with Court politics and history that a commoner wouldn't have
3- You can't really say something like Hamlet and something like a Midnight Summer's Dream were written by the same author

Were there different Shakespeare communities, each with its own texts and different ideas of what a Shakespearean play would be?

I mean it’s pretty famous considering everyone associates Shakespeare with holding up skulls
