Why don't you guys just write a dumb sloppy Romance book under a pseudonym with just a bit more effort than what currently sells right now? Surely you'll make it right? If it's that easy, surely you'd have done it already?

Oh you have integrity? Is stacking shelves at Walmart or selling your soul at some office job, working for some fat cat's third beach home that much more honourable than writing a book about two dumb kids falling in love? You could release one or two books a year, rake in the money, and fuck off in some tropical island country for the rest of your life. Hell, you could maybe work 3-4 hours a day on those books on the beach somewhere, then the rest of your day on your 1000 page magnum opus on the ethics of lolicon.

So, anon, why don't you take the Romance-pill?

Or I can just go to my soul-sucking job and make some decent money like that.

The difference is you can at the very least use your passion to make money.

Do you think the women who write Romance books actually like writing? Of course not, it's a means to an end.

But the market is so lucrative to those who put just a little bit more effort into the final product. And it requires next to no work. Release 2 books a year. One every 6 months. Write 2000 words a day. You can do that in 2 hours. That's 2 hours of work a day, using a skill-set that, no doubt, you're probably better at than 99% of Romance authors anyway.

>> No.23215828

>>23215754
I don't think it would be that easy, hence not everyone doing it. Very crowded market as well. Most any competent writer can probably manage to make some money in it if they put in the time and keep up on the trends but I can't justify that time for the meager sums I would probably make and a big part of writing for me is being challenged by what I write. I would consider putting in that time if I was reasonably confident that it would make me more money than swinging a hammer will but I doubt it would so I will keep swinging a hammer for a few months out of the year.

My ex-gf was a Wattpad "influencer" but her writing was godawful, yet she couldn't live without her Wattpad following so I began ghostwriting her romance/smut for her. After we broke up she continued to take credit for it. Last I heard she was scouted by a "movie studio" who told her they wanted to adapt one of her stories and basically scammed the fuck out of her, the bitch

I feel romantic about this picture, too.

You just forgot one important fact about /lit/, ano.

We all are virgin incels who never was part of a couple. So, any imagination about romantic love would a unrealistic wish-dream...

If I think about it, we are the perfect crew to creat great romantic books!

President Alexandria Cortez finished her State of the Union address and tuned to leave the adoring crowd. Her big hairy bodyguard, Ajax Stud, parted the adoring crowd before her and they entered the Oval Office in a state of heightened energy. Ajax Stud closed the door and the screams of the adoring crowds were silenced. They stared at each other for a moment, frozen like ice.
'That was a very moving speech, Madam President,' said Stud as he took a step towards the president. 'The beautiful Chinese Empress Ching Zhang will be forced to respond.'
President Alexandria Oscar Cortex slapped Ajax stud in his chiseled face and glowered at him with sexy eyes. 'How dare you speak of the chink slut in front of me!' she said with her big breasts heaving in slutty anger.
She cocked her lithe arm back for another slap but Ajax Stud caught it in his massive hand before it reached his face. He grabbed her by the throat with his other hand and spit in her presidential face.
'Madame President, do I need to remind you who is in charge here? Who is really in charge of this country?' He shoved her to her knees and she looked up at him with wet spit dripping down her glasses and onto her heaving cleavage. He pulled out his eight-inch Glock pistol from his holster with the deft ease of an outlaw and pressed it against her sealed lips.
'Suck my Glock.'

Imagine being so sexually impotent you can't make women cum with your words lmao.

Because that's what romance novels are. They are gooning instruments for women. Writing a good romance novel is like fingering Stacy's pussy from a distance.

The general idea I have is that the love interest is a 'bad boy' who is irrationally obsessed with her but that would be cringe to write about imo

because that would be putting yourself out there and facing adversity, competition etc etc, and that's too scary. as long as you only write things nobody wants to read, or better yet just think about writing and never do it, you can avoid putting your skill to the test and maintain your completely unwarranted feeling of superiority over the normies and plebes. you pretend you're just TOO GOOD for this sort of thing, too principled, but really it's because on some level you understand that if you honestly attempted a challenge you consider so far BENEATH you and then FAILED - your already fragile sense of self would simply implode. you'd go insane coping with the fact that some barely literate bored housewives have found success with this stuff that you failed to replicate, with all your supposed intelligence and ability. it would be rope time for anon

literally getting a job is easier, and probably earns you more money. Those that make it are in the minority.
although it might be a valid way to practice though and still make something, even if it is little. but then again why wouldn't you just write what you would be writing in the first place.

President Alexandria Cortez locked gazes with his piercing blue eyes, making sure Ajax watched as she wrapped her plump limps around his barrel.
Ajax's breath caught in his throat, encouraging Cortez to take more of him into her mouth and enveloping the thick, hard Glock in heavenly warmth.
'M-madame president you're-' Ajax let out a gasp 'so good at sucking Glock.'
Cortez bobbed her head up and down, gagging as the barrel hit the back of her throat, tip of her tongue stroking the serial number as Cortex pulled her soft lips back, leaving a thin coat of saliva on the solid, German made pistol.

nta but with fire in his eyes and the blood of my previous lover still upon him the pirate king knelt before me, asking for my hand in marriage. i knew he could simply take me as i stood there, rape me violently right on the deck of his flagship, toss me overboard afterwards like a doll to the cheers of his crew of smelly brutes, and yet there he was kneeling, as if i alone could tame his relentless violence. my legs weak, my cheeks flushed, i reached out towards his great strong hand, allowed it to grasp mine, and whispered... "maybe."

see, you don't get women. a gay man would write about muscles because a man fetishizes body parts. a woman doesn't want to read about muscles just sitting there, she's interested only in what his muscles say about HER. that's why in the implied previous scene the pirate king used his muscles to tear her last, inferior boyfriend's head off, that way the muscles are not just inert body parts but express the heroine's ability to inflame dangerous, violent desire in pirate kings
